Overall Summary


    David Greenberg, the main character in this story, wants more than anything for his best friend, Elloitt, to stop concentrating on girls that may or may not like him. He wants for him and Elliot to just let loose, have fun, and enjoy their last summer before attending a new school in September, Harman Middle School. But Elliott, having other plans for how to spend his summer vacation, decided that he would rather stay at the mall  girl-searching. This caused David and Elliott to have a colassal quarrel, which led them to go seperate ways when middle school started. So, David met a new girl at school, Sophie, who greatly enjoyed and appreciated the TalkTime videos he created and posted on YouTube. Having been previously homeschooled, Sophie then sended all of David's videos to her national homeschooling network, so that the many children around the globe could view and comment on David's breathtaking, and hilarious, videos. Before David knows it, his videos have gone viral. Now people all over are viewing and commenting on his videos-including some of the last people he would have expected.

Conflicts

    The conflicts in this story are person vs. person, and person vs. fate. First is person vs. person. Person vs. person is a present conflict in this book because there is a lot if quarreling. David and Elliott are both fighting with each other part of the book. At another part Lindsay is fighting with David, her brother. Also, the biggest fighting that happens in this book is between David and Tommy Murphy. Secondly, person vs. fate is present because David always knew that he would become the next Jon Stewart, and Jon Stewart said that David would be the next him when David's videos went viral.

Climax

    The climax of this novel is when David Greenberg is given a swirlie by Tommy Murphy. What that means is that Tommy thought it was David's birthday, so he dragged him and held him hostage in the boys' bathroom on the second floor in the science wing. He then waited a while and stuck David's head in the toilet bowl, and made him sing Happy Birthday to himself while his head was still under. Then, Tommy flushed the toilet and let David run out of the bathroom abruptly. David was sopping wet, drenched, and humiliated in front of his entire school.

Outcome

    The outcome of this book is that, after seeing David get humiliated like that by his new friend Tommy, Elliott felt remorse for ever leaving David as his best friend and acting like such a traitor. So the outcome is that Elliott makes Tommy Murphy his ex-friend and enemy again, and reuniting with his true best friend for life, David Greenberg. Elliott apoligizes to David for acting like such a buffoon, and David accepts his apology. They went back to hanging out together at David's house, and Elliott promised that he wouldn't let girls overule him ever again, or let anything get between their friendship.
